Update:
The cabin is up! The Three Lakes Historical Society dedicated the Grosman
House in August, 1998. Pictured above, from left are Felix Holewinski, Celia
Holewinski, John Grosman, and Jack Olkowski of Three Lakes. Celia was born
in the cabin on Oct. 6th, 1909 (1910?) The partially re-built cabin is in
the background.
The cabin was built by Michael Grosman
who immigrated in 1887 to the United States. In 1903, Michael moved to the
Three Lakes area, and constructed the cabin shortly thereafter. The family
continued to live in the cabin until 1921. After that, the cabin was used
as a temporary residence, or summer home, for various members of the Grosman
family, until 1965, when the condition of the cabin had so badly deteriorated
that it was permanetly abandoned. The cabin at that time is generally as it
appears today, with the exception that there was originally only one window
in the bedroom and two windows in the living room. The additional windows
were added at a later date.
